Claire Kostic
Oboist
Oboist, Claire Kostic, is a vibrant performer and teacher serving the Greater Houston area and beyond. She has been heard with The Atlanta Symphony, Houston Grand Opera Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony, and Richmond Symphony. In the summer, she serves as principal oboe in the Orquesta Sinfonica de Mineria in Mexico City under the direction of Carlos Miguel Prieto. Claire serves as Adjunct Oboe Professor at Lamar University and is additionally dedicated to her private oboe studio. Claire has participated in numerous summer festivals including Kent/Blossom, Sarasota, Chautauqua, and the Texas Music Festivals.
Ms. Kostic completed her Masters of Music and Artist’s diploma at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music with Robert Atherholt, former principal oboe of the Houston Symphony. She is also a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music under the tutelage of Frank Rosenwein, principal oboe of the Cleveland Orchestra. Her additional studies were at the Juilliard Pre-College Division where she studied with the late Richard Dallessio. When not making reeds, Claire enjoys astrology and playing with her dog, Ozzy.
