Houston Professional Musicians’ Associations Women in Music Festival

We are so excited to perform as part of the Houston Professional Musicians’ Associations Women in Music festival! 🎶

This day-long event at POST features over 40 musicians from the Houston area performing across a variety of genres including jazz, R&B, and classical! MCP is just one of many acts, so we encourage you to come early or stick around afterwards to hear the other fantastic artists who will be performing!

The festival runs from 1pm-8pm, and you can catch us at 6pm! Katie Hart (oboe), Tonya Burton (viola and violin), and Kristiana Ignatjeva (cello) will perform a set of works by Hilary Tann, Marilyn Zupnik, Gražyna Bacewicz, and Rebecca Clarke.

As you might remember, our original performance of this dynamic and virtuosic program was sadly canceled due to May’s derecho storm. Happily we were able to reschedule, and we’ll be kicking off the ‘24-’25 Music at the Meeting House concert series at the First Congregational Church of Houston!

Featuring oboist Katie Hart, violinist Sam Park, guest violinist Rainel Joubert, violist Tonya Burton, and cellist David Dietz, this concert will include music by Edward Elgar, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Elizabeth Maconchy, and Ralph Vaughan-Williams, and will culminate with Benjamin Britten’s masterpiece Phantasy Quartet.

Come take a journey through queer classical music history as we explore some of the highlights from notable  composers including Bernstein, Tchaikovsky, Boulanger and more! Curated and led by Monarch's LGBTQ+ identifying core musicians Russell Rybicki and Julian Hernandez, this program will be as much a concert as a celebration!

Presented by Sugar Land Civic Arts, this performance will be at the Summer of Sound Festival. Make sure you stick around after the concert to groove to the DJ, and grab a bite at one of the food trucks!
